Irish Turnout Extra – High Neck
WHY WE LOVE IT
Because of the 1200 denier outer layer!
The inner lining is soft and lets the horse move freely, rub free
The famous Carl and Charlotte uses it! 😉
WHAT WE WOULD FIX
We often use a stable rug under the Turnout, and would like an even bigger size. 170 would be perfect!
WHEN WE USE IT
We only use this rug outdoors
When the weather is especially cold
When the wind picks up, and you want protection but not a full neck
When turned out in a herd. The 1200 denier will keep the rug tear free for much longer than say a 600 denier.
We use this rug often. The fit is good, and the silk feel lining makes the rug glide on top of the coat without restricting movement. As some of our horses love to roll in the snow, it lets them move about freely.
The dark colour makes it great also for muddy rolls, as it doesn’t show off all the dirt.
In a turnout with a herd, most of the horses will have rugs with tears and holes in them. The Bucas almost never have that problem!

HOW WE CLEAN IT
Normally we just use a cloth on the outside when dirty. Twice a year we wash it with Bucas detergent. Less is more when it comes to waterpoof rugs.
Bucas always comes off a bit smaller than other brands. We often go one size up in these. Normally they fit most horses. We even had great fits on a young Friesian.
The neck, even though it is a high neck, allows for easy gracing.
We love that it has just one front buckle, gives more space and saves time for the rider.
As this rugs moves very freely, we would tighten the cross syringes a bit more than on other rugs. Making sure it stays in place.
